DDN – A guy from Sebewaing, who was 57 years old, died on Monday morning when a tractor-trailer crossed into oncoming traffic and collided with his vehicle in Sebewaing Township.
A 34-year-old man from Crystal was driving a tractor-trailer south on Unionville Road near Loomis Road at approximately 10:17 a.m. on Monday when he lost control of the vehicle and crossed into oncoming traffic.
The tractor-trailer collided with a 2024 Chevrolet Blazer that was being driven by a 57-year-old man from Sebewaing. This information comes from a press release issued by Specialist Lt. Kim Vetter of the Michigan State Police.
The Sebewaing guy was declared deceased at the spot after suffering serious injuries. The driver of the tractor-trailer was given treatment at the spot for injuries that were not serious.
The collision was attributed to icy road conditions and strong gusts. The news release states that there is no suspicion of alcohol or drug use. The inquiry into the incident is still ongoing.
The Village of Sebewaing Police Department, the Sebewaing Fire Department, the ACW-Unionville Fire Department, D&J Towing, Bartnik Towing, and the MSP Third District Accident Reconstruction Team all assisted the troopers at the scene.
