Azle Crash Claims Life of 67-year-old Man, Driver of Toyota Tacoma Dies After Collision With Pickup Truck

Texas DDN – A 67-year-old man died in Azle on Saturday, Jan. 25, after becoming stuck inside his vehicle during a crash, according to authorities.

Around 10:35 p.m., Azle officers responded to an accident in the 300 block of Texas 199 after a caller reported that the driver of a pickup truck had lost control and driven into a ditch.

When authorities arrived, they noticed many automobiles stopped on both sides of the highway. Officers established that the accident involved two vehicles: a Ford F-250 with four passengers and a Toyota Tacoma with two persons.

A witness informed authorities that the Ford F-250 was driving eastward on 199 when the driver lost control, crossed the center median and collided with the Toyota Tacoma, which was driving west.

Medical workers pronounced the driver of the Toyota Tacoma deceased at the site. Police said the other passenger in the Tacoma had minor injuries and was safely removed from the vehicle.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who died as Jaime Ruiz of Springtown.

According to police, the driver of the Ford F-250 remained at the site and cooperated throughout the investigation, including passing normal field sobriety tests.

Azle police are investigating the crash with help from the Tarrant County Accident Reconstruction Team.
