Teen Driver, Three Passengers Killed in Single-Car Wreck on U.S. 80 in Dallas County Alabama Officials

SELMA, Ala. (DDN) – A single-vehicle crash resulted in the deaths of four teenagers and injuries to a fifth in Dallas County. The crash happened on Thursday.

The accident occurred on U.S. 80, approximately 10 miles east of Selma, shortly before 6:30 p.m.

According to Alabama State Trooper Cpl. Reginal King, an 18-year-old from Wetumpka was driving a 2006 Toyota Avalon when it off the road and crashed into a tree.

The driver and three passengers were pronounced dead on the scene.

King identified two of the passengers who died: Isaiah D. McDade, who was from Pike Road, and Tyler O. Jones, who was from Montgomery. They were both 19 years old.

A 17-year-old from Selma was the fourth person to die. Troopers do not disclose the names of victims who are younger than 19 years old.

Deneco D. Smith, a 19-year-old passenger from Montgomery who survived, was taken to Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma. He was later moved to UAB Hospital in Birmingham.

According to King, none of the five victims were wearing seatbelts when the incident occurred.

The investigation is still in progress. There have been no new details made public.
