Pedestrian Suffers Brain Bleed After Being Hit by Speeding Car Near Marquette

MILWAUKEE, Wisc. (DDN) – A woman from Milwaukee faces allegations of operating a vehicle with a suspended license after striking and seriously injuring a pedestrian on the Marquette University campus on Saturday, January 4.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:45 p.m. that evening. While on patrol, a police officer from Marquette University encountered a gathering in the street at the intersection of 16th and Wells, where a victim was at the center of attention as per Wisconsin authorities.

A criminal complaint reveals that the victim was found unconscious yet still breathing. She was transported to a medical facility after experiencing a brain bleed along with additional injuries.

Witnesses informed the officer that a car had struck the victim, according to the report, and the officer observed a white Mitsubishi halted in the roadway with the driver’s door ajar.

Legal documents revealed that 34-year-old Alexandria Hampton confessed to being behind the wheel of the white Mitsubishi and that she collided with the victim using her vehicle. The individual stated that the victim dashed into the road, characterizing the incident as an accident.

Footage from the surveillance reveals the incident. Prosecutors indicated that Hampton’s vehicle “seems to be moving at a significantly higher speed than surrounding traffic.” A pedestrian was observed traversing Wells Street outside of a designated crosswalk and was nearly across when the incident occurred. She was propelled approximately three feet from the collision.

A record check by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation indicated that Hampton’s driver’s license had been suspended, according to the complaint. Hampton acknowledged her awareness of the suspension during the incident.

Hampton is set to appear in court again on February 5. She was freed from custody last month after posting a $5,000 signature bond.
