One Dead After Vehicle Crashes into Bridge Structure and Catches Fire on I-4 in Volusia County

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Flo. (DDN) – According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a vehicle struck an overpass bridge structure on Interstate 4 in Volusia County early Monday morning. The vehicle was engulfed in flames, and one person died as a result.

The accident occurred at approximately 3:20 a.m. on the eastbound lanes at the exit ramp to State Road 44, mile marker 118.

A crash report states that the vehicle was moving east on I-4 when it off the road, hit an electrical panel, and proceeded to travel on the grass shoulder before colliding with the support of the overpass.

According to the troopers, the accident caused the car to spin, and then the vehicle was later consumed by flames.

The driver was pronounced dead at the spot.

There have been no other details made public.

An investigation is still in progress.
