Multi-Vehicle Crash Left Truck Overturned and Causes Major Traffic Backup; Fulton County Sheriff's Office Car also Smashed

ATLANTA, Geor. (DDN) – A multi-vehicle crash on the Downtown Connector generated a major traffic jam. The accident happened on Tuesday afternoon.

The Georgia State Patrol confirmed that a Chevrolet Silverado conducted an incorrect lane change and sideswiped a commercial vehicle.

The Silverado then drove over several lanes of traffic and crashed into the back passenger bumper of a box truck.

The box truck flipped over on its driver’s side, obstructing three lanes of traffic on the right. The truck driver was transported to the hospital.

At 4 p.m., SKYFOX 5 flew over the southbound lanes of I-75/85, just before Langford Parkway. A Fulton County Sheriff’s Office car that had been destroyed could be partially seen from underneath the flyover.

One of the deputies was confirmed by the agency to have been “involved in an accident.”

The authorities have initiated an investigation and the circumstances that contributed to the crash are also being examined.

The officials have not ruled out the possibility of driving under the influence.
