GAINESVILLE, Fla. (DDN) – A vehicle involved in a police pursuit crashed on an Interstate 75 ramp in Alachua County on Tuesday, leading to a blockage of the roadway.
Authorities report that a pursuit concluded when the individual, Jessica Hord, 42, collided with a semi-truck on the I-75 exit ramp at Williston Road.
Authorities report that Hord is the individual linked to a carjacking incident in Gainesville. A woman faces allegations of compelling a male victim to exit his vehicle at the junction of South Main Street and Fifth Avenue.
Deputies subsequently observed the vehicle operating erratically and colliding with other cars as they tried to initiate a traffic stop.
“The BMW had struck several vehicles. [The deputy] describes the vehicle as going airborne, goes over the median, and begins driving westbound in the eastbound lanes of travel,” said Captain Chris Sims, a public information officer with ASO.

The pursuit came to a temporary halt as the deputy recognized a school zone, but it quickly resumed upon receiving word that Gainesville police were also on the lookout for the same driver.
Authorities report that Hord traveled along Williston Road, crossed the median close to the off-ramp, and crashed into a Fed-Ex-branded semi-truck on the exit ramp.

Motorists are urged to steer clear of the location while officials look into the situation. The area was cleared at 3:15 p.m.
“You see it all the time on the news and everything. Everybody’s kind of used to hearing about things like this, so it’s not a shocking thing,” said driver Riley Speak. “It’s almost normal nowadays.”
A suspect involved in a carjacking incident has been hospitalized due to multiple broken bones. There were no significant injuries reported among others.

Hord has a history of criminal activity. On February 1, she was freed from the Florida Department of Corrections after facing drug-related charges. In January 2022, Hord received a sentence and completed a year for the crime of grand theft involving a motor vehicle.
Hord is currently in custody at the Alachua County jail, though no charges have been reported at this time.
