SALT LAKE CITY, Ut. (DDN) – A 31-year-old man was taken into custody by Salt Lake City Police on Friday afternoon after he allegedly struck a woman with his vehicle following a parking place dispute in Salt Lake City.
On February 14, just before 2:00 p.m., police were called regarding a suspected assault in the Liberty Wells neighborhood of Salt Lake City, specifically in the 600 East block of 1300 South. When officers arrived on the scene, they discovered that 31-year-old Calvin Smith had allegedly argued with a woman about a parking space.
According to an SLCPD press release, the victim, a 61-year-old lady, informed officers that she was standing in a parking space to save it for a family member who was “turning around nearby.”

Smith allegedly sped toward the woman and stopped just inches from striking her after she informed him that she was saving the spot. According to the announcement, Smith then allegedly sped toward her and reversed, causing his vehicle to “hit the victim’s arm” as she shifted out of the way.
According to officials, the victim only suffered minor injuries in the incident.
Smith was charged with one count of aggravated assault and brought into Salt Lake County Jail. As of right now, no additional information is available.
