24-year-old Texas Woman Killed After Losing Control on I-75, Struck by Gravel Truck in Oakland County

OAKLAND COUNTY, Mich. (DDN) – A Texas woman was murdered Thursday morning in an accident on I-75 in Oakland County.

The incident, which occurred at 6:40 a.m., initially closed the freeway at Nine Mile, but it was moved to Eight Mile around 7:20 a.m. The freeway reopened at midday.

According to Michigan State Police, a Houston lady driving a Jeep Compass lost control and spun into the path of a gravel truck. The hauler collided with the Compass and pushed it approximately 750 feet before coming to a stop.

The 24-year-old driver of the Compass was pronounced dead on the spot, while the gravel hauler driver was unharmed.

Police initially tried unsuccessfully to reach the victim’s family. They were able to communicate with them later in the morning.

“We continue to advise drivers to drive slowly and carefully as road conditions change. Troopers have reviewed over 35 preventable crashes across the district since midnight,” stated MSP F/Lt Mike Shaw.
