North Carolina Man Fires Into Car With Kids Inside, Later Found With 232 Grams Of Fentanyl

WADESBORO, N.C. (DDN) – A man accused of firing at a vehicle with two children inside in Anson County over the weekend had enough fentanyl to kill over 100,000 people, according to authorities.

The shooting occurred just before noon on Saturday, March 8, after a lady called Wadesboro police and reported being followed. The woman stated that she pulled into a CVS drugstore parking lot on East Caswell Street when the guy following her began shooting.

Police said multiple rounds were fired into the woman’s vehicle, which was carrying two adults and two children. The rounds caused no injuries, and the culprit departed the scene on Highway 74.

Officers were able to collect information on the subject, as well as arrest and search warrants for a property on Cherry Street.

Wadesboro police officers searched the house and discovered 232 grams of fentanyl, which they said was enough to kill 116,000 people. To put that in context, Anson County has only about 22,000 residents, according to the United States Census Bureau.

In addition to the fentanyl, investigators discovered just under a pound and a half of marijuana, a tiny amount of cocaine, and drug paraphernalia. Two guns, multiple magazines, and a “large amount” of ammo were also discovered. Officers claimed the ammunition found at the house was the same as that used in the CVS incident.

Police arrested Bryant Dewitt Lemon Jr., 28, following the gunshot and narcotics finding.
