CLIFTON, N.J. (DDN) – One man was killed in a five-car crash in Clifton on Wednesday morning, according to officials.
At 11:39 a.m., the Clifton Police Department responded to a multi-vehicle crash near Getty Avenue and Crooks Avenue. According to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office, a 2021 Chevy Trailblazer driven by a 31-year-old Madison woman collided with four other vehicles and struck a person.
The pedestrian, an anonymous 52-year-old Newton man, was transported to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center and confirmed dead.
The Clifton Police Department encouraged vehicles to seek alternate routes in a Facebook post Wednesday afternoon, as Getty Avenue near the Crooks Avenue intersection was closed due to the incident.
According to Lt. Robert Anderson of the Clifton Police Department, police were still on the site investigating the crash around 3 p.m. on Wednesday.
The cause of the crash is unknown at this time, according to the Passaic County Prosecutor’s Office. An investigation is ongoing.
