Illegal Immigrant Accused of Child Rape Arrested by ICE in Boston; Faces Deportation

BOSTON, Massa. (DDN) – A man accused of child rape and unlawfully present in the U.S. was apprehended by Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Boston, the agency revealed on Thursday.

Authorities in Boston reported the arrest of 19-year-old Stivenson Omar Perez-Ajtzalan on January 30, following allegations of serious offenses involving a minor in Lawrence, Massachusetts. The individual involved is reported to be over a decade younger than Perez, a national from Guatemala.

On December 20, 2024, he faced felony charges in Lawrence District Court.

Patricia Hyde, the acting Field Office Director for ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Boston, stated that Perez exhibited a “blatant disregard” for the nation’s immigration laws and was also involved in the sexual assault of a child.

“He arrived in this nation with ill intentions, and it is now imperative that he confront the repercussions of his deeds,” Hyde emphasized that ICE Boston will continue its commitment to safeguarding public safety through the apprehension and removal of unlawful immigrant offenders from the New England region.

According to Bill Melugin from Fox News, Perez was reportedly released back into the community by the court without notifying ICE of his release. The court’s swift release prevented ICE from filing a detainer.

“In my coverage, I’ve observed that Massachusetts stands out as the sole state that often releases individuals charged with serious offenses against children, including aggravated child rape, without notifying ICE,” Melugin stated.

Perez received a notice to appear before an immigration judge from the Justice Department following his arrest, and he has been placed into removal proceedings, as stated by ICE Boston. He is still being held by ICE.
