4-Year-Old Girl Dies After North Austin Crash Involving Police Car

 

A tragic incident in North Austin claimed the life of a four-year-old girl who succumbed to injuries sustained in a crash involving three vehicles, one of which was an Austin Police Department (APD) patrol car. According to authorities, the collision occurred on March 10 at approximately 9:58 p.m. in the 8900 block of N. Lamar Blvd.

Emergency response teams, including the Austin Fire Department (AFD), Austin Travis County Emergency Medical Services (ATCEMS), and APD officers, were dispatched to the scene to address the situation.

Upon arrival, first responders found that four-year-old Gracy Gomez Andres had suffered severe, life-threatening injuries. She was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention. An adult accompanying Gomez Andres in the same vehicle, along with an APD officer involved in the crash, were also taken to local hospitals to receive treatment for their injuries.

Meanwhile, two occupants of a third vehicle emerged from the incident unscathed and did not require medical care.

Sadly, on March 14, young Gracy Gomez Andres passed away due to the extent of her injuries, marking a heartbreaking outcome for her family and the community. The APD’s initial investigation into the crash indicates that the officer was en route to an emergency call reporting a potential shooting, with his patrol car’s lights and sirens activated.

During this response, another vehicle reportedly entered the roadway from a private drive, crossing the officer’s path and contributing to the collision.
