BOSTON – A Massachusetts man has been sentenced for his involvement in a drug trafficking organization that distributed cocaine.
According to the Massachusetts Department of Justice, 47-year-old Angel Delgado was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Mark G. Mastroianni to seven years in prison, to be followed by four years of supervised release. In January 2025, Delgado pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine. Delgado was arrested and charged by criminal complaint in April 2024.
In spring 2023, authorities launched an investigation into the shipment of multiple kilogram-sized packages of suspected narcotics from Puerto Rico to Worcester County, Massachusetts. On at least eight occasions, Delgado was seen picking up suspicious packages, believed to contain cocaine or other drugs, from addresses not linked to him and delivering them to another individual tied to the drug trafficking organization.
During the investigation, authorities seized two kilograms of cocaine from a package addressed to Delgado. On April 30, 2024, Delgado’s vehicle was stopped after he was observed driving someone who had collected a package suspected of containing cocaine. Upon inspection, the package was opened and found to contain two kilograms of cocaine wrapped inside the box.
United States Attorney Leah B. Foley; Stephen Belleau, Acting Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration, New England Field Division; and Ketty Larco-Ward, Inspector in Charge of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service’s Boston Division made the announcement. Valuable assistance was provided by Southbridge Police Department and the Massachusetts State Police. Assistant U.S. Attorney Kaitlin J. Brown of the Worcester Branch Office prosecuted the case.
