This weekend will bring more hot and dry weather. Many places will experience highs in the 90s on Saturday and Sunday, with triple-digit heat returning to parts of southern New Mexico. Saturday will be mostly dry over New Mexico, with the exception of a few scattered afternoon storms over northern mountain peaks and around the Texas state line. This will be the same pattern on Sunday, with a few more storms expected in the state’s south and southeast.
A burst of monsoon moisture will return to New Mexico early next week. This will boost rain chances till the middle of next week. The majority of New Mexico will see rain chances return, with the exception of east-central and southeast New Mexico, where high pressure will keep things dry. Most people will experience a drop in temperature as moisture and rain rise. The rain will also revive the potential of flash flooding by the middle of next week.
