A Man Was Killed When He Was Hit While Helping a Broken-down Car on I-95 in Milford

MILFORD, Conn.  — State police say a man has died after being hit while helping a broken-down car on Interstate 95 over the weekend.

Vinto Fitzgerald, 61, of Killingworth was taken to the hospital from the scene of the accident with what were thought to be major injuries. State cops said he had died on Monday morning.

The event took place on Saturday, February 8, at 2:03 a.m.

State police said the white Hyundai Genesis was going south on I-95 in the right lane when it went off the road and hit Fitzgerald, who was helping a tractor-trailer that was stuck.

The car left the scene of the crime. The license plate number is unknown, but state police say the car should have damage on the right side of its front bumper.
