Aberdeen Drivers Alert: Scheduled Closures on US 101 Chehalis River Bridge for Preservation Work

Drivers in Aberdeen should be ready for a number of ramp closures starting in the middle of November, when maintenance work on the US 101 Chehalis River Bridge starts. The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) has hired crews to start working under the southbound US 101/H Street ramp to the bridge. Their goal is to repair old infrastructure and keep this important transportation link in good shape.

According to WSDOT, the first closure happened overnight yesterday to put up temporary supports. The ramp has since reopened, and the next closure is scheduled for December 5 to lower the ramp after the old rocker bearings are replaced. Travelers had to deal with closures and detours, but that’s the price they had to pay to make sure the bridge is safe and lasts a long time. The first part of work will be done on the southbound side first. On Friday, December 6, the same process will begin on the northbound bridge ramp to US 101/G Street. To get around the closures, drivers will have to take routes through the East State Street off-ramp during this time.

When cars plan their trips, knowing when roads will be closed is very important. This is what WSDOT said: The southbound US 101/H Street ramp to the Chehalis River Bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14 to 5 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 15; and again from 9 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5 to 5 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 6. The ramp to US 101/G Street going north from the Chehalis River Bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, until 5 a.m. On Saturday, December 7, 2025, and again, we need to mark our calendars for the following closure: 9 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2025, to 5 a.m. Friday, January 3, 2025.
