An arrest has been made in connection with Monday’s shooting in Abingdon, Harford County, according to authorities. Justin Matthew Schlotterbeck, age 41, of Aberdeen, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, among other related charges.
The Harford County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 3500 block of Woodsdale Rd after reports of gunfire on Monday at around 4:05 p.m. Deputies found 27-year-old Eric Chi Fonong Igwacho with wounds to the lower body. They quickly administered first aid until medical teams arrived to transport Igwacho to a trauma center, where his injuries were deemed not life-threatening.
The Sheriff’s Office reported that the Criminal Investigations Division handled the investigation with assistance from various specialized units, including Forensic Services, K9, and Drone units. The Aberdeen Police Department and Maryland State Police from the Bel Air Barrack also helped in the efforts that led to locating and arresting Schlotterbeck.
After obtaining an arrest warrant, deputies found Schlotterbeck in his vehicle near his residence. A handgun that had been disassembled was found and seized by detectives during a search of the suspect’s vehicle. Schlotterbeck, now held without bond at the Harford County Detention Center, was apprehended without any reported incidents.
While the motive for the shooting is still under investigation, there is belief that the involved parties were acquainted with one another. The Harford County Sheriff’s Office has not released additional information as the case continues.
