(CBS DETROIT) On April 30, the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers will make their first appearance in Detroit in almost ten years when AC/DC performs all night at Ford Field as part of their “Power Up Tour.”
The tour’s tickets will go on sale on AC/DC’s website on Friday at noon. As special guests, The Pretty Reckless will also perform.
Beginning on April 10 at US Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, the 13-city North American tour concludes on May 28 at Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland. Dallas, Las Vegas, Foxborough, Pittsburgh, Tampa, Nashville, and Chicago are among the other locations.
The last performance by AC/DC at Ford Field took place in September 2015, during their “Rock or Bust World Tour.” Axl Rose of Guns N’ Roses replaced frontman Brian Johnson, who left the band due to hearing problems, during the group’s September 2016 performance at the Palace of Auburn Hills.
In 2018, Johnson made a comeback to the band, and he will be traveling with lead guitarist Angus Young and rhythm guitarist Stevie Young. Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd are replaced on tour by bassist Chris Chaney and drummer Matt Laug, respectively.
“Power Up,” AC/DC’s 17th studio album, was released in November 2020. At the 64th Grammy Awards in 2022, the album received a Best Rock Album nomination. Since its founding in 1973, the Australian rock group has sold over 200 million albums.
The third major tour to visit the Detroit Lions’ home field in 2025 is the rock legends’ performance at Ford Field. Rapper Post Malone said in November that he would be visiting Ford Field on May 18 as part of his “Big Ass Stadium Tour.” Malone is joined by Sierra Ferrell, a special guest, and Jelly Roll, another rapper and country singer.On March 29, Billy Joel and Stevie Nicks will perform together at Ford Field.
