An Akron man was detained following the fatal stabbing of a caretaker at a group home last Friday night, as reported byWKYC. The Akron Police Department said they were summoned to a conflict at a residence on the 1700 block of Shaw Avenue at approximately 9:22 p.m. The initial 911 call was made by a woman claiming a client had pushed her at the home. Upon their arrival, officers encountered a man with visible hand injuries.
Jarel Wooden, 34, was subsequently apprehended and charged with murder after a brief investigation of the scene.FOX8reported that Wooden received medical attention before being taken into custody. Inside the home, officers discovered the unresponsive 56-year-old victim, who was later pronounced dead due to an apparent stab wound. The victim, purportedly the caretaker who made the emergency call, has not yet been publicly identified.
As stated byNews 5 Cleveland, the police met Wooden at the door and detained her while they conducted a search and gathered evidence. The woman’s name has been withheld pending the notification of next of kin. Wooden is now held in the Summit County Jail, and the incident remains under active investigation.
