Alleged Attleborough Shooter Captured, Suspect and Accomplice Face Court After Weekend Incident

Police have apprehended the suspect in the alleged shooter in last weekend’s Attleborough shooting, ending the manhunt. Jacob Lacourse, 33, was taken into custody by the authorities after they had already named him as a suspect in the incident that injured a 58-year-old man. Lacourse was apprehended without incident by the Attleborough Police Department on Tuesday after being discovered at a property on Dean Street, according to NBC Boston.

Lacourse is currently being charged with carrying a firearm without a license as well as assault and battery with a firearm. In order to establish a precedent that community safety would not be taken lightly, he was swiftly charged in Attleborough District Court and is currently being jailed without bail. According to a statement acquired by WHDH, police also arrested Alexandra Elliott, 30, and charged her with witness intimidation and accessory after the fact. On Wednesday, Elliott is expected to appear in court.

Around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, a gunshot occurred on Oakland Avenue. Police located the injured 58-year-old, who was taken to Rhode Island Hospital right away with non-life-threatening injuries. A warrant for Lacourse’s arrest was issued following a thorough investigation, and he was apprehended a few days later.

The neighborhood was initially uneasy when the gunfire broke out, but the pursuit of Lacourse had escalated tensions in the Attleborough community. He was last seen wearing gray sweatpants and a hooded sweatshirt. He was described as a white man, perhaps 40 years old, with a noticeable shaven head. Police had earlier released two images of Lacourse and warned locals to stay away from him, advising them to notify local law enforcement as soon as they saw him, in an attempt to swiftly defuse any potential threat. Hoodline reported this information.

As the community starts to come to terms with the events of an all too violent weekend, Lacourse is scheduled to return to court on Monday.
