The situation escalated when the responding officers attempted to apprehend the suspect, who not only resisted arrest but also engaged in a physical altercation with law enforcement. In the struggle, the suspect assaulted the officers, tried to take an officer’s taser, and attempted to remove another officer’s duty weapon from his holster. Despite the officers deploying their tasers, the devices malfunctioned, leading to a foot pursuit when the suspect broke free and fled.

During the pursuit, the suspect endangered a young woman by grabbing her, prompting the officers to intervene and ultimately take the suspect into custody. The Seattle Fire Department was called to the scene to attend to both the injured officer who had sustained minor injuries and the suspect. The officer, whose identity has not been publicly released, is currently in the process of receiving an on-duty injury packet, a routine procedure in such incidents.
