Alpine School Threat Investigation Leads to Student Suspensions and Increased Patrols

According to a press release from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office, Alpine Sheriff’s Station deputies were notified of an incident at Shadow Hills Elementary School in Alpine yesterday. School officials reported that two students had threatened other students and staff. Around 5:30 p.m., the administration identified the pupils involved, contacted their parents right away, and conducted home safety checks before starting the inquiry into the occurrence.

As a precaution, the school has suspended the involved kids while it conducts additional inquiry. Although the threats have not been found to be credible in the threat assessment thus far, more patrols are planned for today, the following day, along the school’s perimeter. To reassure the school community, officials are being very visible and don’t take any chances when it comes to school safety.

In accordance with privacy concerns related to current youth investigations, the Sheriff’s Office has chosen to withhold information on the minors engaged in the incident as part of routine protocol.

With a representative declaring, “The safety of our school children is a priority for the Sheriff’s Office,” and emphasizing their dedication to following up on all leads, the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office acknowledges the critical importance of school safety and makes it apparent that they are constantly on the lookout for any threats of possible violence. Students are urged to remain vigilant and contact the Student Speaking Out Hotline at (888) 580-8477 or the School Resource Deputies directly if they notice any questionable conduct.
