Arizona Department of Public Safety Launches “Seven Points” Podcast for a Glimpse Into Law Enforcement Life

The Arizona Department of Public Safety is making its debut in the audio storytelling space with the release of its new podcast, “Seven Points.” Detective Sherod Harris and Sergeant Eric Andrews, the AZDPS Public Information Supervisor, co-host this unique series, which recently released its debut episode. By offering a close-up view of the lives and responsibilities of AZDPS officers, the podcast seeks to shed light on the inner workings of Arizona’s law enforcement, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

“Seven Points” aims to explore seven distinct questions through a series of interviews, revealing the experiences and histories of those who wear the badge. The purpose of the podcast, according to Sergeant Andrews, is “to showcase the incredible individuals behind the badge at the Arizona Department of Public Safety.” It appears that the objective is to not only be open and honest about how the department operates, but also to possibly pique the curiosity of those in the public who might be thinking about pursuing careers in this industry. Every two weeks, a new sworn or professional employee of the Arizona Department of Public Safety will be featured in the story.

Colonel Jeffrey Glover, the Director of the Arizona Department of Public Safety, is the only person featured in the premiere episode. Colonel Glover talked about his experience moving up the ranks and his goals for the agency’s future during the premiere. It is intended to humanize the duties of individuals in service and perhaps serve as motivation for future law enforcement officials by sharing these firsthand accounts from the top ranks.

A video version will also be available on the AZDPS YouTube page for anyone who would rather have a visual component.
