An armed man and the Los Angeles Police Department engaged in a standoff after an event rocked Eagle Rock on Friday afternoon. The man was hospitalized, and his dog confronted a police K9 unit.

The incident began, according to NBC Los Angeles, when LAPD received a report at approximately 1:40 p.m. regarding a guy on the 5000 block of N La Roda Avenue who was armed and suffering from suicidal thoughts. The man shot at the policemen, who retaliated, and the situation descended into shooting when the police arrived.
