AT&T Stadium Thanksgiving Event Distributes 316,000 Meals, Bringing Community Together in Fight Against Hunger

For the fifth year in a row, the Tarrant Area Food Bank and the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic partnered with local partners to host the 2024 Thanksgiving Mega Mobile Market on a beautiful fall day at AT&T Stadium. The official website of the City of Arlington reports that the Thanksgiving meal distribution event on Thursday distributed 380,000 pounds of food, or 316,000 meals, to 5,417 households.

The yearly event, which is ideally timed to take place before Thanksgiving, has continuously demonstrated the area’s dedication to combating food insecurity. In order to provide families a chance to spread holiday cheer, this year’s project featured a bountiful supply of poultry and pantry essentials. “This Thanksgiving Mega Mobile Market is huge for the community we serve,” said Julie Butner, president and CEO of the Tarrant Area Food Bank, in reference to the City of Arlington. It’s a community gathering. This is anticipated by the volunteers and donors. My employees eagerly await this face-to-face interaction and encouragement to give back and express gratitude for what they have by helping others.

For the second consecutive year, American Airlines and the Cotton Bowl Foundation each made sizable $10,000 donations, demonstrating their dedication to this cause. This donation, which is equivalent to 100,000 meals, was made expressly to help the Tarrant Area Food Bank fulfill its overarching goal of combating hunger and enhancing health in the 13 counties it serves. “This event is a labor of love for our staff and all of the community partners we are able to bring together to make a major impact on our community,” Cotton Bowl Athletic Association President and CEO Rick Baker told the City of Arlington about the event and its significance. We are proud to assist the Tarrant Area Food Bank and have an amazing workforce.
