Auburn Man Charged with Murder and Multiple Offenses in Gwinnett County

An inquiry into a suspicious death in Lawrenceville has culminated in the apprehension of 27-year-old Marquis Green from Auburn, now facing charges for murder, alongside a spate of related criminal offenses. This escalated situation stems from a welfare check conducted on October 29, 2024, at the residence of 60-year-old Robert Terry, who had fallen out of touch for several weeks. Law enforcement officials, upon entering his home at 1241 Mount Vernon Drive, were confronted with Terry’s lifeless body. Gwinnett County authorities confirmed that after a thorough investigation by homicide detectives and the county’s Medical Examiner’s Office, an autopsy finalized on October 30, 2024, determined Terry’s death was in fact a homicide.

Intensifying the investigation, authorities discovered footage of one of Terry’s vehicles, captured on traffic cameras as it traveled through Gwinnett County. They also identified unauthorized financial activity, with money missing from Terry’s bank accounts and official documents gone from his home. Investigators later obtained footage showing Green withdrawing large sums from Terry’s account while driving Terry’s vehicle, as reported by thecounty’s official website.

The intense investigation led to Green’s arrest last Thursday as he dined at a restaurant in Duluth. Following his capture, he was remanded to the Gwinnett County Jail, where he now faces numerous charges, including felony murder, robbery by intimidation, and aggravated assault. The litany of charges extends into various forms of fraud: financial transaction card fraud, concealing a death, identity theft, computer forgery, not to mention theft by taking, and a bucolic note that sinks into the grim narrative aggravated cruelty to animals.
