The Austin Police Department (APD) is looking for the public’s assistance in locating a suspect in a car accident that killed a pedestrian. According to an official APD release, Sauvan Pham was killed at the site of the August 4 incident, which happened in the 10800 block of North Lamar Boulevard at around 2:08 a.m.
According to APD details, the suspect car was a dark-colored sedan that was observed driving north on North Lamar Boulevard just after the collision. The Austin Police Department issued a statement urging anyone with knowledge to come forward and call the Vehicular Homicide squad at 512-974-8111 or use the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program to anonymously submit tips.
Austin has now experienced 49 fatal crashes this year, bringing the total number of fatalities in 2024 to 52. Compared to the previous year, when there were 56 fatal crashes and 59 fatalities by the same period, the data shows a modest decline. Despite these figures, the human cost associated with each occurrence continues to be a source of worry for both the community and local authorities.
Additionally, APD has made public the possibility of a reward of up to $1,000 through the Crime Stoppers program for information that results in an arrest. APD’s initial statement highlights that the collision investigation is still underway and that the department is urging the public to help in the effort to bring the victims justice. Law enforcement officials want anyone with information on the dark-colored vehicle or the crash’s circumstances to contact them.
