Austin Police Seek Public’s Help to Find Suspect in Fatal Hit-and-Run on East Stassney Lane

The Austin Police Department (APD) is seeking the public’s aid in locating a suspect involved in a hit-and-run that resulted in the death of a pedestrian. The incident took place on East Stassney Lane and Teri Road, on Sunday, November 10, when Kyla Walker was struck by a vehicle at approximately 6:29 p.m. According to information released by theAPD, Walker was pronounced dead at the scene and the vehicle responsible for the crash fled without stopping.

The vehicle of interest is described as a Honda Accord, model years 2008 to 2010, white in color, with possible damage to the front passenger side including a missing front-right passenger bumper and fog light, and a missing passenger side mirror. In the statement issued, APD’s Vehicular Homicide Unit stresses the importance of community collaboration urging anyone with information to step forward. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for tips leading to an arrest through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program.

Tragically, this marks Austin’s 76th fatal crash of the year, resulting in 81 fatalities. This time last year, the city had seen 77 fatal crashes and 80 fatalities. The investigations into this particular crash remain active, withAPDdetectives piecing together the circumstances that snatched Kyla Walker’s life away.
