Residents of Barrow County who intend to use county services should mark the Thanksgiving holiday on their calendars because it will cause numerous departments to halt regular operations. The administrative offices, courts, senior center, and animal shelter will close on Thursday, November 28, and Friday, November 29, according to a formal notification posted on the Barrow County website.
County officials and staff will take a break from their workstations and services to fully enjoy the holiday celebrations. Additionally affected by the prolonged vacation is the Barrow County Senior Citizen’s Center, which will close one day earlier on Wednesday, Nov. 27, and reopen on Monday, Dec. 2. Residents should still expect to be able to freely walk Victor Lord Park and use its amenities, including the tennis, pickleball, and batting cage courts, even if the park’s buildings and sporting fields will not be accessible at this period.
The Barrow County Water office will naturally be closed for any water-related emergency that may arise during this festive week, but they have assured that key personnel will continue to be on duty. According to the Barrow County notice, anyone with information on a water emergency can call a designated hotline at (770) 307-3014, which will link them to the appropriate on-call staff.
The holiday will not result in a stop to public safety. In order to ensure that county people can get together and express gratitude without worrying about their safety, essential public safety personnel will continue to be on duty.
