Last Saturday morning, American Canyon Police Officers sparked a chase that ended in a marsh off Highway 37 and the arrests of two individuals linked to a string of retail thefts. The chase began when officers spotted a silver Ford Fusion, known to be connected with organized retail theft in Napa County, and attempted to pull it over.
According to theAmerican Canyon Police Department, the driver decided evasion was a better option and gunned it southbound on Highway 29. Driving at high speeds into Vallejo and then veering west on Highway 37, the suspects seemed determined to escape at all costs.
Ultimately, their flight from the law led the suspects, Daesharee Logan, 27, of San Rafael, and Marquis Lewis, 33, of San Francisco, into a swampy dead end when they crashed the Ford Fusion. Though they initially tried to flee on foot, the police apprehended the pair promptly. Logan now faces charges for felony evading and resisting arrest, while Lewis racks up charges for resisting arrest, providing false information to police, and an existing Napa warrant.
Logan and Lewis were booked into the Napa County Department of Corrections following their ensnarement in the marsh.
