Bicyclist killed in collision on Detroit’s west side

DETROIT – Police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on the west side of Detroit on Sunday afternoon.

Authorities said a man was riding a bicycle in the south-facing lanes of Southfield Service Drive near Sawyer Street around 5 p.m. and was hit by a 26-year-old woman driving a Ford Taurus.

Police said the woman stayed at the scene.

The cyclist was taken to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation is still ongoing.
