Boston Police Arrest Suspect, Confiscate Two Firearms After ShotSpotter Activation in Dorchester

Following the report of gunfire detected by ShotSpotter, Boston Police officers from District B-3 (Mattapan) converged on a Dorchester neighborhood and arrested 45-year-old Reginald Williams. The incident, which led to the recovery of two firearms, occurred on Monday, near 19 Page St., Dorchester.

The response was triggered at 8:49 p.m., when officers arrived at the scene and observed a significant group of individuals gathered on the sidewalk. Their attention was caught by a man, later identified as Williams, swiftly moving towards the backyard of a nearby residence. Upon instructing him to show his hands, Williams complied, albeit continuing his approach towards the officers, who then discovered a large folding knife in his pocket.

, it was detailed that Williams was subsequently taken into custody after officers found a firearm inside a BBQ grill and a second gun in the grassy area of the same backyard.

The first weapon was a Taurus G2C, black 9mm semi-automatic pistol equipped with an extended magazine holding twenty-two live rounds and one in the chamber. The second firearm was a EIG 4-barrel .22 caliber pistol, chrome in color but without ammunition. Detectives from District B-3 were called to the scene and verified these details regarding the recovered firearms.

Williams faces several charges, including Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Firearm Violation with Three Prior Violent and/or Drug Offenses, and Carrying a Dangerous Weapon (3rd Offense). He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court following his arrest.
