Boston Police Arrest Three Juveniles and Recover Untraceable Firearm in Roxbury After Traffic Infractions Escalate

Earlier yesterday, Boston Police apprehended three juvenile males in Roxbury, after a series of traffic violations escalated into a foot chase and the recovery of a firearm. Officers from the District B-2 were patrolling the Grove Hall area when they spotted two scooters speeding down Blue Hill Avenue without helmets at approximately 1:45 a.m., according to

Boston Police Department

official report.

The situation quickly developed as one suspect abandoned his scooter and was approached by the officers regarding the traffic infractions. Concurrently, another individual on a scooter struck an officer’s parked cruiser and tried to escape. The aftermath of the collision resulted in this suspect being handcuffed and another fleeing on foot, only to be found hiding under a parked car. A “ghost gun” was later discovered along the path where the third suspect had fled. “Officers began to canvas the flight path of the suspect, and located a discarded firearm underneath a motor vehicle,” told B

oston Police Department

in their statement.

Further investigation revealed the scooters were manipulated to function without keys and lacked valid registration documentation. Among the charges filed, one 15-year-old was charged with multiple firearm offenses, including carrying a firearm without a license and possessing a large capacity firearm. The other 15-year-old and 16-year-old juveniles are facing charges related to receiving stolen property. All suspects are expected to be arraigned at Boston Juvenile Court.

The ghost gun, a term for a firearm assembled from parts, avoiding serial numbers and registration, contained one round in the chamber and eleven rounds in the magazine. Boston Police expressed ongoing concerns about the dangers posed by these untraceable weapons. As this case unfolds, the apprehension of these juveniles has highlighted challenges law enforcement faces with the proliferation of ghost guns and motor vehicle thefts in urban environments.
