Boulder City Celebrates 15th Annual Small Business Saturday with “Shop the Block” Discounts and Community Solidarity

The community is coming together to support local businesses and connect their financial futures through the “Shop the Block” campaign as Boulder City prepares for the 15th Annual Small Business Saturday, which is scheduled for next Saturday. The program invites customers to bring receipts from one participating establishment to another for a 15% discount, according to the official website of Boulder City. The program, which was started by Dam Roast House last year, has sparked a chain reaction of support among small companies in Boulder City.

“On November 30-December 1, when you shop at a participating Boulder City business, bring your receipt to another participating business and receive 15% off your purchase,” stated Jill Lagan, President and CEO of the Boulder City Chamber of Commerce. Not simply locals support their enterprises. It’s a fantastic concept that companies are now helping out tiny enterprises. According to the Boulder City website, businesses in Boulder are growing the “Shop the Block” campaign, which was initiated by the Dam Roast House last year as a show of support for the community.

American Express introduced Small Business Saturday in 2010 to highlight the critical role small businesses play in the economy. Businesses made an estimated $17 billion in sales on this day last year, according to the Small Business Administration. About $201 billion has been donated to America’s small business community since the event’s inception.

Spending money in Boulder City supports the local economy and helps pay for public safety, parks, schools, and roads, as stated on the Boulder City website. “Over the past fifteen years, the pride and enthusiasm for Small Business Saturday has grown immensely,” said Raffi Festekjian, Boulder City’s Economic Development Coordinator. Festekjian stated that taking part in Small Business Saturday boosts the local economy, as small businesses employ more than half of Nevada’s workers.
