A disturbing act of violence rocked Melrose’s peaceful streets yesterday afternoon. A teenage girl was suddenly attacked and stabbed in the back with an unidentifiable item at around 2:55 p.m., close to the intersection of Brook Avenue and Westchester Avenue. According to NYPD officers, emergency personnel arrived quickly and took her to a nearby hospital.
The suspect in this horrible crime is being intensively pursued by authorities. In what seemed to be a last-ditch effort to avoid arrest, a lady was spotted running east on Westchester Avenue and the NYPD is asking the public for assistance in finding her. The guy was last seen wearing dark jeans and a gray sweatshirt, according to PIX11.
After being suddenly caught in the act of violence, the 14-year-old victim was taken by emergency medical services to Harlem Hospital, where her condition was said to be stable.
Police have made another identifying feature public in an attempt to speed up the search for the suspect: the person is said to have an afro, according to a report acquired by News 12 Bronx from the NYPD.
The NYPD urges anyone with knowledge to come forward as they continue their investigation into this deadly event.
