Bronx Shooting Leaves 12-Year-Old Girl and Five Others Injured

New York, NY – A shocking shooting in the Bronx left six people injured Monday afternoon, including a 12-year-old girl and her mother, who were both caught in the crossfire. Police responded to the incident, which occurred just before 5 p.m. at 3544 White Plains Road, at a crowded convenience store.

The reports that the victims also include four men, aged between 18 and 21, who are all in stable condition. The mother, who was shopping with her daughter, was reportedly used as a human shield by one of the intended targets as gunfire erupted inside the store.

A Heartless Attack

NYPD Interim Chief of Department John Chell described the incident as “brazen and heartless,” emphasizing the recklessness of the shooting that took place in the middle of a busy street. “Tonight, in the Gun Hill section of the Bronx, we had a brazen and heartless attack by two shooters that opened fire in the middle of the street and into a crowded convenience store,” Chell said, highlighting the tragic use of the mother and child as shields during the attack.

Suspects on the Loose

Authorities believe two suspects were involved in the shooting, and both are said to have fled the scene on foot heading northbound on White Plains Road. Police are actively searching the neighborhood, reviewing video footage, and collecting ballistic evidence from the scene to help identify the gunmen.

As for the victims, the 12-year-old girl and her mother were rushed to a nearby hospital and are receiving treatment for their injuries. The four men, whose ages range from 18 to 21, are reported to be stable.
