DENVER, Colo. (DDN) – Denver police are responding to two auto-pedestrian crashes in downtown Denver, in which four persons were hospitalized. One of these individuals has died.
According to the Denver Police Department, the crashes occurred blocks apart and roughly 20 minutes apart, with one involving a bus. The government stated that the crashes were unrelated to one another.
The first crash occurred around 10:15 a.m., near Park Avenue and Lawrence Street. According to a Denver police spokesperson, a vehicle collided with a person, and the driver, passenger, and injured individual were all transported to a hospital.
FOX31’s Kasia Kerridge reported from the scene that the truck had jumped the curb immediately outside the Denver Rescue Mission. A resident of the mission who observed the crash described it as “brutal.”

“I was waiting in there to check my bed and the whole building shook, and I heard the bang,” Ronald Taverna said in an interview. “I’ve seen a lot of stuff at this place. I’ve been here for a while, but that was — that was brutal.”
The police official stated that one person’s injuries were critical. DPD reported at 11:50 a.m. on X that the collision is now being examined as deadly, and a police spokesperson confirmed on Sunday afternoon that the pedestrian in the crash died.
According to the spokeswoman, the driver was in “critical but stable” condition, while the passenger sustained minor injuries.
The second incident occurred shortly after 10:40 a.m. near 21st and Lawrence streets.
A bus struck a person, who was brought to the hospital with what a police official described as minor injuries.
