The Cabarrus County community is grappling with an unsolved mystery following the discovery of a deceased woman whose identity remains unknown. The body was found last Monday near the Rocky River Bridge along US Highway 601 South, as reported by

. The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office is treating the case as a homicide although, the exact cause of death is pending investigation by the North Carolina Medical Examiner’s Office.
In an attempt to identify the victim, law enforcement agencies have released descriptions of her appearance and clothing. She is described as a Black woman, approximately 5’4” tall and weighing around 150 pounds. She was found wearing a black top and distinctive white and gray sweatpants featuring green, white, and red stripes, a race car, and black and white checkers on one of the legs, also noted by

. Additionally, a multi-colored necklace was found on the woman, who, according to deputies, did not have any tattoos.
The investigation has extended beyond local parameters, with authorities coordinating with other agencies to review missing persons reports from the region. Residents of the area expressed their concern, with one local stating, “It’s the holiday time. Somebody is missing their loved one,” in an interview obtained by
