California Google Employee Beats His Wife till Death, Found ‘spattered with blood’

A 27-year-old Google engineer in California is facing murder charges after allegedly assaulting his wife, who was also a Google employee. In a statement released by the district attorney’s office in Santa Clara County, it was reported that Liren Chen was found covered in blood in their residence, while the lifeless body of his wife was discovered in the bedroom.

A woman suffered severe blunt force injuries to her head. Chen’s right hand displayed severe swelling and a deep purple color. The statement reported that there were bloodstains on his clothing, legs, arms, and hands, along with scratches on his arm.

According to various reports citing property documents, Chen’s wife has been identified as Xuanyi Yu, although the district attorney did not disclose her name in their statements. As reported by Fox News Digital Chen and Xuanyi Yu were both working for the tech giant when the incident occurred, according to Google’s verification.

Liren Chen’s LinkedIn profile indicates that he has been working as a software engineer at Google since March 2020. During his time there, he has been actively involved in the development of an algorithm for YouTube Shorts recommendations. Xuanyi Yu recently joined Google as a software engineer in 2021, following her previous experience at Amazon, according to her LinkedIn profile. Liren Chen and Xuanyi Yu are alumni of a university in Beijing, according to their profiles.

The district attorney’s office has announced that Chen is facing murder charges and could potentially be sentenced to imprisonment if found guilty. Currently hospitalized, he has not yet appeared in court.

According to the information given, the police were notified by someone associated with Chen on Tuesday. Upon reaching the scene, the individual notified the authorities that Chen was not responding to attempts to contact them. An acquaintance witnessed Chen inside the residence, seemingly frozen on his knees with his hands raised and a vacant expression on his face.

Law enforcement officials have gained access to the residence and successfully apprehended Chen. Tragically, they found the lifeless body of his wife in the bedroom.
