California’s Abstract Ice Inc. Unveils $14.7M Expansion with New Production Facility in Forest City, NC

California-based Abstract Ice Inc. is laying down its stakes on the East Coast with a significant investment meant to expand its craftsmanship into Rutherford County, North Carolina. Governor Roy Cooper announced that the specialty craft ice manufacturer is poised to create 26 jobs and has planned a $14.7 million investment for a new production facility in Forest City. “Today, we celebrate Abstract Ice investing in Rutherford County,”

Serving a variety of establishments, their new facility will significantly expand their production ability to meet demand that spans the nation. , “Their presence will energize our local economy and tap into our state’s diverse and skilled manufacturing workforce in the Rutherford County area.” New jobs created by the company will have an average annual wage of $57,038, which exceeds the current county average. The anticipated payroll impact stands at more than $1.48 million annually for the region.

The state’s commitment to economic growth is further evidenced by a performance-based grant of $75,000 from the One North Carolina Fund, which is intended to help facilitate Abstract Ice’s expansion. Representative Jake Johnson also chimed in, noting the company’s potential to enrich the community while setting new industry standards.
