Car Crashes into Chicago Residence, Occupants of Crashed SUV Escape Before Police Arrive

CHICAGO, Illi. (DDN) – A chaotic incident unfolded in the Garfield Ridge neighborhood when a vehicle collided with a residence, and the occupants promptly entered another car and fled the scene. The accident happened on Friday afternoon.

A cell phone video shared online captures a severely damaged SUV overturned after colliding with a residence on South Natoma Avenue.

Two individuals from the SUV were observed sprinting towards the red sedan. Two young men were observed returning to the damaged SUV to retrieve what appeared to be a cell phone and other personal items before the red car sped away.

After the damaged vehicle was removed, the extent of the destruction to the house became painfully clear. The home’s bricks and front window sustained the most damage.

Megan Jubiter, who lives nearby, heard the crash.

“I was just sitting in my living room, and I heard a huge commotion,” she said. “I saw a car flipped over on its side, pushed up against someone’s front living area. … I just got my shoes on and I came hauling down the sidewalk.”

Jubiter witnessed the red car speed away following the collision.

“I swear it had to have been going about 100 miles an hour,” she said. “I couldn’t make it out, other than the fact that it was a maroon-colored vehicle.”

A family member of the residents reported that a one-year-old child was napping on the couch right next to the front window when the vehicle crashed into the house, yet fortunately, no one inside was harmed.
