Car Plunges Into Lake Michigan in Downtown Chicago; Driver Hospitalized after Crash

CHICAGO, Illi. (DDN) – According to officials from the Chicago Fire Department, a woman sustained significant injuries after a vehicle went into the water in the downtown area of Lake Michigan on Saturday.

The collision took place along the lakefront route in Grant Park, close to East Balbo Drive, between the hours of seven and eight o’clock in the evening.

Despite the fact that she was able to escape both the vehicle and the water, the woman who was driving the vehicle was transported to the hospital in critical condition, according to the California Fire Department. It was not yet known how old she was.

Near the scene of the accident, where a car was partially buried in the water near the edge of the lake, first responders could be seen busying themselves with their work.

The water was scoured by CFD divers for further passengers, but they were unable to locate anyone or anything. At the time of the collision, it was not yet clear whether or if there were any other people in the vehicle.

Contrary to what the Chicago Fire Department reported, the Chicago Police Department stated that the automobile had veered into the lake, and the woman was not hurt.

The police have stated that citations are due.

It was not possible to obtain any additional information at that time.
