Carrollton Seeks Nominations for Community Hero Awards, Celebrates Volunteers at Annual Event

The City of Carrollton is asking the community to submit names for its annual celebrations of local heroes—the volunteers who make the city a better place to live. As detailed in the city’s announcement, the city has opened the floor for nominations across various awards, aiming to spotlight those who have lent their time and talents to various community-enhancing efforts throughout 2024.

The awards up for grabs include the Neighborhood Leadership Award, the Outstanding Community Organization Award, the Volunteer of the Year Award, and the Youth Volunteer of the Year Award, each reflective of the commitment of individuals and organizations to enhancing the lives of others within the Carrollton community. Nominations will be accepted until Friday, January 3 at 11:30 a.m., setting the stage for a February 26 recognition at the Carrollton Senior Center during the Mayor’s State of the City address. “The City is grateful for those who have contributed their time, ideas, and efforts in making the community a beautiful place,” the

To be eligible for the Neighborhood Leadership Award, nominees must be adults who have made a big impact on improving the city, like through beautification or intercultural projects. For the Outstanding Community Organization Award, nominees should be groups known for their members’ dedication and achievements in community service, such as a hardworking PTA or a neighborhood association building local connections.

The individuals selected for the Volunteer of the Year Awards will be those aged 18 and above who have offered exceptional service to the city’s departments or affiliated programs. In contrast, the Youth Volunteer of the Year Award welcomes nominations for those between 10 and 17 years old who have similarly served their community with commendable volunteer work.
