Catonsville’s Western School of Technology Swiftly Manages Gas Leak, No Hospitalizations Necessary

Twelve persons were evaluated Thursday afternoon due to a gas leak at the Western School of Technology in Catonsville. To protect the safety of the staff and pupils, emergency personnel arrived on the scene quickly. Around midday, firefighters and BGE staff were called to fix the leak outside the school, which is located at 100 Kenwood Avenue, according to CBS News Baltimore.

While a dozen people, including adults and children, needed medical evaluation, the fire department claims that the incident was quickly contained and that no one needed hospital treatment, as reported by WMAR-2 News. During the event, student safety came first, and those kids who were not impacted moved to a secure section of the building while the problem was meticulously fixed.

Although the reason of the gas leak has not been revealed, BGE employees and firemen were able to secure it outside the school. The situation was cleaned by 12:27 p.m., and classes at the school resumed as usual.
