DDN – According to officials with the Burlington Police Department, one individual died in a major crash in the Piedmont Triad.
Around 10:30 a.m. on Friday, police responded to a two-vehicle accident at the junction of NC-87 and South Mebane Street. Two of the drivers involved in the collision suffered serious injuries.
A Chevrolet SUV driver was driving along NC-87 when he ran a red light and collided with a 1997 Mercury.

Officials stated that both drivers were transported to neighboring hospitals. The BPD’s Traffic Unit received notification at 11:32 a.m. that the Mercury’s driver, Thomas Coble, had died as a result of his injuries.
Alamance County Rescue, Alamance County EMS, and the Burlington Fire Department all came to the scene and helped pull a driver out of the accident.
