Chicago Businesses on Alert After String of Break-ins, Police Seek Info on Suspects and Vehicles

In response to a string of break-ins, the Chicago Police Department has issued a community advisory for businesses in a number of neighborhoods. Commercial burglaries have occurred in the Norwood Park, Union Ridge, Portage Park, Irving Park, Jefferson Park, and Bucktown neighborhoods, according to the official police statement. The 14th, 16th, and 17th Districts’ jurisdictions encompassed these crimes.

In order to enter the establishments, front glass doors or side windows were broken in each burglary. The criminals fled with money in two different cars and attacked ATMs and cash registers. Two to three men, identified as White or Hispanic, were seen escaping the sites in dark-colored and silver sedans while wearing gloves, face masks, and dark clothing.

The 5300 block of North Cumberland Ave., the 7000 block of West Higgins Ave., and other locations along North Milwaukee Ave. and West Irving Park Rd. were among the places where the series of break-ins occurred on November 10 and 11. The first day’s burglaries took place between 4:21 and 4:50 in the morning, and they started up again at 3:05 in the morning.

Businesses have been asked to stay alert and report any suspicious activity by the Chicago Police Department. In order to help investigative detectives, they have also asked everyone with video surveillance to record and keep the material. The statement emphasizes how crucial it is for anyone who witnesses the acts to call the police right away and avoid touching anything. Business owners should also ask witnesses for their contact details if they approach them.
