Chicago Pastor Reinstated After DCFS Probe Finds No Evidence of Allegations, Says Archdiocese

Reverend Martin Marren, a Chicago-area pastor, has been reinstated after an investigation by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and the Archdiocese of Chicago s Office for the Protection of Children and Youth found no evidence to substantiate allegations of child sexual abuse. According to theChicago Sun-Times, Marren had voluntarily stepped away from his ministry duties during the investigation.

Marren serves as an associate pastor at St. John Fisher Parish in Beverly and St. Cajetan Parish in Morgan Park. In a letter to parishioners, Cardinal Blase Cupich reaffirmed the Archdiocese’s commitment to child safety while emphasizing the importance of restoring the reputation of individuals cleared of accusations. “We take all allegations of sexual misconduct seriously. At the same time, we must restore the good name of anyone so accused when the allegations are found to be unsubstantiated,” Cupich stated, as reported byWGN-TV.

Following the clearance, the Archdiocese s Independent Review Board recommended closing the case. Cardinal Cupich confirmed that Marren is a “priest in good standing” and acknowledged his years of dedicated service. “He deserves our respect and gratitude and I hope you will join me in thanking him for his long-standing dedication,”Cupich said.

The Archdiocese continues to encourage individuals who may have been victims of sexual abuse by church personnel to come forward. Reporting information is available on the Archdiocese s website, ensuring accessibility for anyone seeking help.
