The robberies occurred at various locations throughout the Austin area, with the first incident reported on the 5200 block of W. Harrison St. on November 11 between 3:30 and 4:08 pm, subsequent incidents followed on the same day at the 5300 block of W. Congress Pkwy at 10:11 am, another robbery on November 12 at the 500 block of S. Lockwood Ave. at about 9:45 pm and the last one recorded on November 14 at 7:31 am on the 400 block of S. Lockwood Ave., as detailed by theCPD.
The police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect described as a black male, estimated to be between 15 to 25 years of age, weighing around 130 to 170 pounds, and standing approximately between 5’09” and 6’00” tall. He was last seen wearing dark clothing. Community members are urged to note any distinctive features of the offender such as scars, acne, or a limp, and to refrain from physical resistance during an attempted robbery or chasing a suspect, as per theChicago Police Department.
Residents are reminded to always remain vigilant of their surroundings, specifically suggesting walking in well-lit areas, and if witnessing an incident, to obtain contact details from other witnesses to provide to the police, further authorities advise against tampering with any evidence and to dial 9-1-1 immediately, staying at the scene when possible to ensure a swift response and the best chance of catching the perpetrator involved in these distressing crimes affecting the Austin neighborhood.
