Three people, including a 10-year-old child, were involved in a boat capsizing incident in high winds off Waialua Beach Park.

The hobie craft flipped yesterday around 3:30 p.m., and the operator’s attempt to right the boat caused the mast to break. Witnesses reported that the winds were strong enough to overturn the vessel, according to reports fromKHON2.

Honolulu Emergency Medical Services were alerted to the situation by a good Samaritan. Lifeguards from Honolulu Ocean Safety were dispatched, and they successfully brought the two adult males and the young boy to shore using a jet ski. A statement obtained byIsland Newsnoted that the individuals did not require any medical attention following the rescue.
